Christmas in August?...

At Mt. Mckinley Princess Wilderness Lodge we celebrate Christmas on August 25th.  It is a tradition that began with a big snow storm in Yellowstone in 1912. Our Christmas day was complete with Santa and his reindeer.

Alaska Is one of the most beautiful places on earth! 

What makes it so? 

Trees as far as the eye can see

No Traffic

Lakes and streams around every corner

 Seeing wildlife

The smell of fresh air

Wildflowers: yes I still love the Fireweed

Wildlife

Mt. McKinley early in the morning

Glaciers

Rain Storms

Sunlight at 2 am

Fishing for really big Salmon

and so much more.......................

Sitting on a still Lake; and letting my mind wonder. 

 A wonderful way to spend an evening.

Being almost the only one on the lake made everything seem so much bigger.

I love this place "Alaska"  not many times in my life have I ever been so overwhelmed by Gods creations.   

I believe inhaling Mosquitoes makes me a true Alaskan :)

I feel very small in such a huge place.
