It's Moose Calf season.  We have seen three cute little babies, and 2 mamas this season so far.  As busy as we get here at the lodge it's easy to forget what a truly beautiful place we live.  Most people that come here spend 15,000.00 for a 10 day vacation.  We get to live here for 5 months and experience what very few guests ever do.  The views here are absolutely beautiful, and ever changing.

It is also Burch Syrup season.  It takes 100 gal of burch sap to make 1 gal of burch syrup.   My favortie is a rhubarb pancake from the local Roadhouse with Burch syrup on it.
I love this view from my front door.  Most evenings before I head to bed this is what I get to see.

Alaska 2012

I arrived April 25th to a very cold, and snowy Alaska.  This season has begun in a very cold fashion.  We have had a few wisps of snow and quite a bit of cold wind and rain.  Hopefully this week we will begin to warm up a little bit.  Yesterday while I was out on a drive with some friends I noticed the trees about 50 miles south of us are beginning to turn green and leaf out.  Everything seems to turn green around here over night.  The sun isn't going to down till almost midnight, and then comes back up around 4 am.  good thing for room darkening curtains.    I am hopeful I will have a great season again this year, and bring back many more wonderful memories.
