Blueberries and Mushrooms....oh my!

I have always loved to go exploring at Byers Lake.  The first time I went there last summer it was like stepping back into my science class.  The amazing plant life there is beyond what I have ever seen.  Lots of fungus of many kinds.  I never thought  that Mushrooms could be so beautiful they didn't even seem real.  As I explored the dark and moist little trail around the lake, many more species of plant life really came to life.  Besides mushrooms some of my favorites are Devils club a very thorny yet beautiful plant which I am told has medicinal uses, and dwarf dogwood which resembles Christmas Holly.  Then there are berries galore, Cranberries, raspberries, watermelon berries, and finally beautiful blueberries.

I was able to pick a nice large bowl of blueberries to take home and use for my breakfasts.  I thoroughly enjoy spending time here on the lake Kayaking, but I will say I equally enjoy the time I spend exploring the trails around the lake.  I think every time I come here I find something new and exciting to see. Our life path is so much like the little trail around the lake.  It may seem like a dark, and scary place at first, but with a little courage you step into an unknown corner of the world to discover amazing and wonderful things.  If we don't try new things we will never know what could come of it.  I have had so many life situations that would scare most anyone.  But looking back and seeing all the good that as come from each and every one; I feel so very lucky for all the courage God has given me in order to take life and live it.  I can't wait for the next adventure God has in store for me.
