Going the distance

Sometimes in life things that seem so simple; turn into some of the most difficult things we have ever done.  I have had a few of those moments since beginning my job at Mt. McKinley.  Hiking up and down a mountain for meals and to go to work has been one of those very difficult things.  As the season progresses it is becoming easier to climb that mountain.  I have learned a lot about myself through this as well.  Self discovery is always good.  It brings us to face things in our life we may have been unwilling to look at.  That stupid mountain has been what brought me to realize how unhealthy I have been.  I have worked on becoming healthier but not been 100% committed.  Now, like it or not I am 100% committed.
Some days the physical challenges of my job are difficult to manage; working 6-8 days straight before a day off can be exhausting.  But everyday when I put my feet to the ground and take that hike down to breakfast I get to see some of the most amazing views.  On a great day we see the mountain; some days only the gorgeous trees and wild flowers.  Either way no matter how difficult and how challenging my job may be I have Gods creations all around me.  Then I am reminded He has something great for me today and I claim it in Jesus name AMEN!
